A Mighty Change of Heart: “I Have Nothing More to Give You”

A Mighty Change of Heart: “I Have Nothing More to Give You”

Eduardo Gavarret

Takeaways:

Our goal is to be able to say “Lord, I give You everything; I have nothing more to give You.” This attitude requires a mighty change of heart.

We obtain a mighty change of heart by

1) studying the scriptures to obtain knowledge that will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and give us a desire to change;
2) cultivating that desire to change through prayer and fasting; and
3) acting on revelation and covenanting to surrender our hearts to Him.

We know our heart is changing when

1) we want to please God in all things;
2) we treat others with love, respect, and consideration;
3) we see attributes of Christ becoming part of our character;
4) we feel guidance from the Holy Ghost more constantly; and
5) we keep a difficult commandment and continue to live it.

We maintain our change of heart by

1) renewing our sacrament covenant weekly;
2) regularly attending the temple; and
3) loving and serving our neighbors through ministering and missionary work.

Changing our heart takes faith, repentance, and constant spiritual work. It is not an event.

Questions to Ponder:

Have you ever experienced your heart changing? What factors contributed to that change?

What are some things you can do to better maintain any change of heart you have experienced?

What in your life have you given to the Lord? What have you withheld? Do you have more to give? What would it take for you to give everything to the Lord?
