Steady in the Storms

Steady in the Storms

Henry B. Eyring

Takeaways:

To stay steady in the storms we face with a peaceful heart, we must first remember that we are each a beloved child of God and that He has inspired servants.

Perilous times are here and will only continue to increase, but God has promised to make a place of safety for us.

Safety is found in building a strong foundation “upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ” so that we can withstand the “mighty winds” (temptations and increasing attacks of the adversary) and avoid being dragged down to “misery and endless wo” (the effects of sins that we do not fully repent of).

The only way to have a sure foundation and stand firm during the storms of temptations and trials is to have our natures changed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We must become as a little child.

We change our natures by making and renewing covenants. The experience of making and renewing covenants will allow us to “become like a child in our capacity to love and obey.”

“Faith in Jesus Christ always leads to greater hope and to feelings of charity toward others, which is the true love of Christ.”

Questions to Ponder:

What storms have you faced in your life? How steady were you during those storms?

How strong is your foundation of faith in Christ?

Is your capacity to love and obey like that of a little child’s?

How can you rely on your faith in Christ to develop greater feelings of charity toward others?
